Provide wide photographs inside and outside, including the roof, cill and any support below or above. Bays deserve a detailed survey because several frames, angles and building elements meet in one installation.
The quotation should identify any posts, insulated panels, roof or cill work included. Structural repairs and concealed defects cannot be priced responsibly as if the job were a simple flat window.

What is the difference between a bay and a bow window?
A bay normally follows an angular projection, while a bow creates a shallower curve using several window sections. Existing construction, roof, cill and internal finishes help determine the appropriate replacement.
Do bay windows support the building above?
Some bays contribute to support and must not be treated as ordinary window openings. The survey considers existing posts, loads and construction so any required structural solution can be identified before manufacture.
Can you retain the original proportions?
That is normally the aim. Mullion positions, opening sashes, glazing bars, cills and roof lines are considered together so the replacement respects the shape of the property.
